Laundry room darkroom

And why they do have their disadvantages. My darkroom is in the laundry room. Normally no problem at all, enough room for a 4X5 enlarger and making 20X24 prints. Biggest problem is that once a week my wife takes over the room and does the laundry. No big deal. The biggest problem is that on Saturday the washer decieded to blow up its pump. As this was a 3 day weekend, we were stuck big time. Half the laundry done and worse of all, I couldn't print. Being the trooper that I usually am, I shot all day today and a bit on Sunday. Film I can do in the kitchen so when the washer is fixed or we have a new one installed, I will be more than ready to get back at it. Moral of the story? Laundry rooms are great, but sometimes they are not what you were hoping for. Don

I have my second darkroom in our newly renovated laundry room. At first it was great but I quickly stopped working there because the dust was becoming problematic. Now, a year later, every corner is dusty. It just can't work.

I solved my dust problem by replacing the dusty old clothes dryer with a $$$ :-( Miele one that has a condenser system. Now the only dust is regular room dust, and I have a mini compressor to blow that off negs and so on. So far, so good.

I'm glad it worked for you. But the mere in and out of fluffy clothes creates enough dust to make me uncomfortable. But I already have a great darkroom so I'm being picky here.

Well, I've developed film and printed in far worse situations than this.... LOL

I finished the design and have completed the demolition work. Will have the drywall work finished tomorrow and Wed. I can start painting.

Michael, I'm still deciding on which side I want it to drain to, which is why it's centered now, although the more I think about it, the more I may actually leave it flat. But, if not it will slope down to the left and the drain will move. I'm also changing the back piece just a tad.

On a side note, I did a bad thing. I uploaded these to gallery, assuming it was my own individual gallery. It wasn't and this apparently upset some folks, which was not my intent. I'm trying to figure out how to delete them from the gallery now. Once I do, I'll reupload here (as I've no figured that out). Please excuse me, I'm relatively new to this site.

Thanks Michael. I deleted them from the gallery, but they're still showing up here, which I suppose is good, but I'm not sure I understand why (since I used the URL to post these). When I subscribed I was told that my subscription included a portfolio, that's where I thought the images were going when I uploaded them to the gallery.

Regarding the sink, I've used small ones and really, really big ones. On small sinks the slope always bugged me (maybe because there was too much of one). So I've been considering leaving it flat and just using a squeegee to get the last of the water down. But I may rethink that.

Dust would be my primary concern in a laundry room (from the dryer), but that can be mitigated by an air cleaner running and not cleaning the dryer lint trap the day of darkroom use.

Thanks, yes I did use sketch up. I found the graylab in the 3D Warehouse, but I'm building all custom cabinets, so I did a quick scale mockup of the jobo (not very detailed if you get close, but it is to scale) and my Saunders/LPL enlarger.

It took me about two hours to get up to speed with sketchup but I'm loving it.
