Firstly, I am not the original source of this information but it's 2 decades old and seems to be about to drop off the internet so I wanted to note it down in more detail here and with pictures.
Do you have a Minolta Autocord with the later model strap mount? The mount looks like this:
The straps for this connection are expensive and hard to find. Here's a way to attach a universal strap to it.
You will need 1/2 inch diameter split rings commonly used for key chains and jewelry. These are very inexpensive and available online or at hardware/key stores. The diameter is 12mm and the width of the wire is 1mm.
Open one end with your fingernail the minimum amount it takes to be able to push it through one rotation. It doesn't take much. If in doubt, do less. Be careful not to scratch metal on metal.
Rotate the ring until it is pushed through. Needle-nose pliers can help, but are not required. If you use them, be careful not to bend the ring too much or slip and scratch something.
Once you've rotated it through, let the most bent part of the ring you opened earlier rest in the narrow gap for a while so that it returns to its original shape.
The ring will stay securely in place. Now you can use your Autocord without having to track down an expensive, and probably poor condition, strap. Simply attach it through the ring, or use another split ring for extra separation if desired.
