Hi Andrew. Thanks. Yeah it’s been something I’ve wanted to try and now decided to dive in. Have been using a a range of gear including a Linhof Techno camera with a hassy digital back and even thou I’ve been shooting film on my hassy gear the large format has always lured me.

Just about any 300mm/5.6 lens from the major manufacturers (Nikon, Schneider, Fuji, Topcor, Rodenstock) would be great for most image making. These lenses are common and reasonably priced in the 500-1000 USD range. ($3000 when new)

Most important: find a lens free from fog with a reliable shutter. The all-black Copal 3 shutters are newest and may be the most reliable in the long run.
