does it matter if i mount my large heavy lens onto a metal lens board?
any cons on mounting the lens on a metal board on my dorff?
vibration issues?

thanks

I don't think it makes any difference whether you mount to a metal or wood board. The Deardorff does not handle large lenses gracefully because there's no tilt lock, and the front standard isn't designed to handle the torque from a large lens. I'd recommend making a tilt lock mechanism of some sort--it doesn't need to be fancy, and a lens support.
