Hi,

I will be taking the good lady to France in the middle of December, crossing over on the channel tunnel.

The route I'm taking is M4, M25, M26, M20. Does anyone know if there is a good purveyor of large format cameras, used or new, close to this route? I'm sure I can manage to stray off the planned route

Thanks

Martin

Where's Robert White?

Not sure about the route, but I'm guessing the best in the vicinity would be Robert White. www.robertwhite.co.uk.

Thanks, but unfortunately Robert White is based in Poole, which is quite a long way off my route, probably too far.

Cheers

I do hope you are bringing the lady to Paris, Dead Link Removed

BTW "Les Occasions" is the bit you're looking for :D
Scroll down for the good stuff.

If you're up for shopping once you're in France, visit http://www.galerie-photo.com/ Wander around the site, which names some dealers, and ask for advice on the forum. Nice people, they tolerate anglophones very well.

Martin, you could check out www.mrcad.co.uk, in Croydon it's an amazing place and just off the M25 Dead Link Removed. They have a reasonable sized carpark too. Take loadsa cash and several credit cards.

You could always take the ferrry from Poole?

Actually Robert White isn't really set up for walk in visitors. It's basically a warehouse on a small industrial estate. They do have a service counter, and the staff are friendly, but there's nothing much to browse. As I live local I've been there a few times, but generally phone ahead and check they have what I want, then just go in and collect it. Unless you've got already know what you want there's not much point in going there.

It's also VERY hard to find. My first trip there I was standing 10 yards from the door asking directions, and I still couldn't find it. I had to make a return trip the next day!

Fintan Good grief man! she's my wife why on earth would I want to take her to the city of luurrve?
Seriously, it's going to be little more than a booze cruise before christmas, and probably a bit of a drive around Calais so I don't think Paris will be on the agenda. We have been there before, and we both love the city so the tip might came in handy for future reference. They seem to be well stocked.

Dan I will visit the site prior to travelling. Thanks

John Mr Cad looks to be very promising, all being well I expect to make a visit Thanks.

ShirobashiTeamwork looks good, however it seems to be quite central. The thought of fighting through London traffic and I'm guessing a congestion charge do put me off a little. Will see how well the journey goes on the day.

127Thanks for the tip about Robert White, I was thinking of making up a reason for a day trip to Poole, perhaps I won't bother.
