Lack of contrast: How to avoid?

No problem, Andy. Just consider it a belated compensation for that tea situation in Boston Harbor a while back. Gosh, that was fun, though.

No worries! We've still got the tea, we left you with that Satan's brew coffee. To be honest the slogan 'No taxation without representation' gets bandied about quite a bit here these days too! lol!

Thanks Andy, Maybe you missed it in among everything else on this thread, but I am currently not set up for printing.

DOH! I'm an idiot!

Update:

Meopta Opemus 6 Colour Enlarger with 35mm and 6x6 neg carriers, 50mm and 80mm Anaret lenses, Viponel Timer, Meosix color 1 analyser, masking frame, contact printer and sundry spares arrived via DHL today.

Give me a few weeks to figure things out and then watch this space!

Bravo! Nothing beats real analog output. Well, maybe a couple of things, but they aren't photographic in nature.

The scan of the HP5+ film strip you sent, Andy, seems to have slightly higher-than-usual FB+F, but not excessively so. The film should be quite printable. Your scanner also appears to have been confused by that large L-shaped area of highlight in the upper right of the Sun Lee Chinese Food shot. Once that was corrected, the rest fell about where it should.

Thinking back now Ralph, I may have incident metered that frame, could explain it's difference to the rest of the roll.

Andy it's good to hear it's sorted, with a Meopta you'll be printing crackers in hours rather than weeks

I'd rather be printing photographs Tony! Mind you I've got some superb welsh cheddar in the fridge...
