Following the discussion on the thread about CT scanners in airport, I propose we start a list that we maintain where each person adds information from where they live about the availability of labs that process film and shops that stock film and chemistry. If this list takes off I could possible turn it into a searchable website.

Let's keep the format simple to make scanning the list quick

Google lists quite a other places like people's homes and CVS, Walmart, Walgreens, and a couple of other businesses that are listed, but I don't think actually provide those services anymore, or are still in business. The places that I have listed are places I've actually been to and can confirm.

Luton, UK - large town roughly 25 miles North of London and home to one of the "London" airports.

Luton Camera Repairs, Guildford St (visible from the railway station)
C41 processing available usually 48 hours turnaround £4 for 135, 120 and 110 film. Free basic scan with download link (3000x2000 for 135). Prints and custom scanning available.
Also offers B&W and E6 processing and I believe can handle 127 film but I am unsure of turnaround time
Sells a very good range of 135 and 120 films colour (Kodak, Fuji) and B&W (Ilford), small stock of new Ektachrome in 135
Sells darkroom photo print papers (Ilford) and some chemicals (mostly Ilford).
Sells used and NOS film cameras, lenses, accessories.

Also Luton
Boots in The Mall (mall visible from the railway station too)
Upstairs has a small range of film on sale. 135 colour and B&W (Fuji, Ilford), 120 B&W (Ilford). Occasionally stocks Lomography colour negative films in 135 and 120.

Camera World 13 High Street, Stevenage Herts UK
Good range of film for sale
No processing

Cardiff, Wales UK
Camera Centre UK, Unit 14 Morgan Arcade, Cardiff
Vast range of film in 135 and 120 for sale, staff claim "every film available".

I have personally visited all these. My specific recommendation is Luton Camera Repairs, almost a "one stop shop" for film photography.

Owner David Johnson . Ellen is the master printer, amazing eye for color work.

Full color lab for C41 35mm and medium format. Excellent experienced staff . Used and new gear. Processing costs are quite reasonable.

Shops

Mathers of Lancashire: https://www.mathersoflancashire.co.uk/camera-film.html
Process Supplies: https://www.processuk.net/
Ag Photographic: https://www.ag-photographic.co.uk/

I've used all three - they're big enough to have good stock but small enough to cater for individual needs. I'm sure they'd all ship to hotels if asked.

Labs

Peak Imaging: https://www.peak-imaging.com/
Ag PhotoLab: https://www.ag-photolab.co.uk/

Both are fast turnaround - one day in lab. Perhaps longer for push or cross process.

Here in Taipei,

達蓋爾
This is the workshop of master printer, Max Chen. He sells film, develops black and white negatives and makes prints (especially for gallery exhibits). However, as his main occupation is darkroom printing, his turnaround time for film development may be long. Max carries large format, 120 and 135 film.

While this store is only open from 7pm to 9:00 or 9:30pm Monday through Friday, A-Fa provides the best quality in C41 and E6 development. The turnaround is typically 24H. Also, I don’t think anyone beats his price of USD 2 per roll for C41 development. My guess is a lower price gives him volume and ensures fresh chemistry.

They specialize in the movie film (sale and development) but they also have normal C41 and black and white film (primarily 135 format). They offer IMAX film for color 120 shooters. I buy 400’ bulk rolls from them (Eastman Double X).

They offer film for sale and development. I have not used their service or bought film from them as they are more expensive than elsewhere. However, they are quite popular among the tourists who visit Taipei because they are located in the historic “camera street district “.

Instead of trying to find addresses in every city one could possibly go to (When I make city trip, I do not see myself spending time to find the right address, hoping they have the film I want, going back there to drop off the exposed films and then hoping they send it to my home address), can’t we think of something better.
Wouldn’t it a better idea to create a network of fellow members around the globe. Mostly you can do with 1 or 2 in every country.
You let them know what you need, they order the films locally and send them to the address you want. You send the exposed films back to the fellow member, they have it developed and send it to your home address.
They add a small surcharge for their time and effort to (partly) fund their own use of film.
We all share the same interests, so why wouldn’t this work?
Beside that, reports about scanner damage are still mixed.

Frank

The reports on CT scanner damage has been reported by both Kodak and Ilford. Your network idea might work; I’m open to any attempt to address this problem. But I do think having access to a directory where film can be purchased and developed is useful.

Living close to NYC, you all know about the major stores for film, equipment and processing. In Fairfield, NJ is Unique Photo, which has been giving more attention to film photography for the past several years. I need to be near store once a week and often shop there. However, although BH now charges tax, cheaper to buy from BH because of free shipping, rather than Unique. Same reason I don’t buy from Free Style.
For processing E6, I use Dale Labs in Hollywood, Fl. Dependable. They also do BW and C41.

Oh yes already mentioned as mail order but Process Supplies near Farringdon station in London (actually on Mt. pleasant Rd) are wonderful. Vast range of films though not the amateur stuff like Color Plus and Gold....at unbeatable prices and you can buy over the counter. Also vast range of chemistry, papers, accessories. Anything on their website should be available at the physical shop. Been in business aeons. Farringdon is served by a major rail line, the tube and major bus routes.

Imaging Warehouse, Blackhill Industrial Estate, Stratford Upon Avon.
You need to ring a doorbell to get in but no appointment is necessary and they do sell over the counter. Again huge range of film and darkroom products.I think they even own the Nova darkroom brand. I haven't visited them since 2017 but they were fantastic then.

Here in Vancouver BC, we have two labs which I'd recommend. First is "The Lab" which I use. They do B&W, C-41, and E-6 in house. You can mail in your order if needed, which I do myself. See: https://www.thelabvancouver.com/

The other is ABC Photocolor. They have done work for professional photographers and making prints for them like board mounting. I have yet to use their services, but they are recommended. https://www.abcphoto.com/

I started using ABC in the 1970s - most of the wedding work I did was through them.
I haven't used them much recently, but from what I hear they still do excellent work, although mostly with digital of course now.
They have had several owners and several locations in the ~ half century they have been around, but the changes have been quite organic.
I even knew one of the founding owners - Gordie Kern - and how they came about.
One of the reasons I don't deal with them a lot anymore is that when they moved into their current premises - the old G. King lab which unfortunately went under - there wasn't room to bring their E6 line with them. As a result, they have the Lab do their E6 for them.
A family portrait - my family, including me - from the early 1970s, scanned from a 5x5 proof made from a 120 negative by ABC:
1970-0001-res 1000.jpg
