Wow. Single-day. Unless it's at a well-known museum or gallery (so it would look good on my resume and possibly be seen by someone with some influence to acquire) I don't think I would go to the expense of packing and shipping a print, framed or matted, for something like that.

Provincial and/or national print competitions - mostly for amateur photographers.
Under the auspices of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art - CAPA: https://capacanada.ca/
More than half of the entries are sent in by individual clubs, rather than individual photographers.
Our Darkroom Group is a member, and the competitions we have run are technically "affiliated" with CAPA, but they are essentially run under CAPA rules.
The competition days are great fun - a wide range of prints and print qualities, a wide range of enthusiastic and interested photographers, and an enjoyable social event as well. Some people do more than send in prints. They travel to attend personally as well.
We haven't run one since COVID hit in earnest. Its a lot of work, but it is very satisfying, not least because it supports people actually printing their work.
Most participants use digital, but there are a few film stalwarts, as well as a few darkroom printers.

Any practical reason it only runs for a single day? Just seems odd. Or maybe Canadian?

It is usually in a hall or gymnasium or meeting place, and it fills the room with several dozen prints and many more people.
It is as much an event as anything else.
People come - some from significant distances - they meet up with many others, they look at the prints, frequently talk with many of the photographers, eat some treats, drink water, coffee or tea, hear the comments and observations of judges and then go back home.
In most cases, their are representatives attending from each group and many of the individual participants, so prints go back with them.
The judges review of the prints happens one day earlier.

"Removable" masking or drafting tape can itself be purchased with adhesive on both sides. Still a sticky mess if the tape is outdated, stored wrong, or left on too long.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ended up purchasing some static cling vinyl on Amazon that sticks perfectly to the Acrylite glazing used in my frame and is removable without a trace.
