So, mysteriously, the back of my Auto S3 will not open. I pull up on the rewind lever, which pulls up about a quarter of an inch, then stops. It feels as if its getting caught on something solid. Any ideas?

Any chance that the foam seals around the edges are getting old and really sticky?

Just had the camera CLA'd by a localish guy so I don't think the seals he put in there have messed with the action of the latch. Got in contact with him and he said to send it back and he'd fix it and get it to me next day. Gotta love local repairmen!

Chances are the metal baffle on the door is a bit too close to the place where it inserts itself. I would take a miniature screwdriver and gently probe that opening (with the door release, of course, 'open'). I forget, but you just might have to take the top off in order to (possibly) see where the impediment is if mere 'closeness of fit' is not the reason for not readily opening. It is not too difficult but it is necessary to be careful. - David Lyga
