Koi vs. Carp

Meet with Lee today at the Amon Carter, where we quickly move to a local coffee house to debate the importance of Koi vs Carp.

After both agreeing that they were both smelly but useful, we had a nice visit discussing all things photographic, plus Lee was kind enough to share his Mission series with me. If you haven't seen these, you need to get Lee to show them off, they are very nice.

As the sun began to set, and the storms started to roll in from the north we departed. Thanks Lee, enjoyed the afternoon, hope that we can get together with all of the North Texas APUG members soon.

I think it's important that people get together under what ever guise necessary.

I play hockey with a bunch of guys in a "beer league" which is just really a get together, to get away from the old lady and drink beer.

Others ice fish, or lake fish, again just a ploy to get away and drink and have companionship with other poor unfortunates.

Some people in Canada and Scotland came up with a game like shuffleboard, to while away the winters. But the ingenious part is, they make the rocks 40 pounders, so it would be impossible to play at home. They had to go to ice arenas, and play, again telling their wives that it was very cold, so they should stay home. The game of curling was invented and the drinking part is called bonspieling. Very smart people.

Ram Dass, a noted enlightened type, who got kicked out of Harvard for doing LSD with Timothy Leary, stated that he played checkers with his father once a week. It was years later that they discovered that neither one of them liked checkers. Just was, as he stated, a way to "make love" with his father.

So if it's Koi or chasing girls, or beer or whatever, as long as we get together for good fun, that is the main thing.

It was years later that they discovered that neither one of them liked checkers. Just was, as he stated, a way to "make love" with his father.

Ram Dass was/is an interesting being. The last that I heard was that he was working with people in the process of dying helping them with their transition. I read his book "Be Here Now" or something like that a few years ago. Maybe it was "Now be Here"...no that was a command that someone else told me...or was it "Here be Now"...That doesn't sound right either...It was one of those series of words, I think. Help me to figure it out or I will not sleep tonight. You don't really want to deal with me as cranky as I am getting in my advancing age after a sleepless night.

If you will help me with the book title, I will leave my IOU in the collection plate. I would rather owe you then intentionally not pay you.

Thank you for your enlightening message...it is a honor and a privilege to hear your enlightened utterances. Besides I hate checkers...I never win.

Donald, it was "Be Here Now." Not "Been There Done That".

That was someone that read "Be Here Now" too many times.

Actually he lives not far from here. He had some sort of stroke or something and is kind of starting over, walking etc. This I believe got him on the path of the dying thing. He was apparently pretty close, as we all are.

Ever since I found out that checkers was the name of Nixon's dog, I just couldn't bring myself to play. Besides it's not violent enough. How do you lay down a good bodycheck playing checkers.

I tore up your IOU. The vig was too high anyway and it's too far to send someone to break your arm. It would affect you photography and we need that. There needs to be as much beauty in the world as possible.
