Nah, Kodak should definately begin producing Neopan 400 in 120, as Fuji isn't interested

I'd prefer that Ilford pick up the orphaned emulsions. At they are committed to film. Perhaps they could buy Portra from Kodak while they're at it.

Kodak HAS recently brought out three news films: KODAK Panchromatic Separation Film 2238, KODAK VISION3 Color Digital Intermediate Film 2254/5254 and KODAK Color Asset Protection Film 2332

See http://motion.kodak.com/motion/About/The_Storyboard/4294970151/index.htm

I wouldn't expect to see Kodak bring out any new traditional films in the near future - just hope they don't discontinue any more films.

They should make a film that, when you process it in C-41 chemistry, produces a color negative, when you develop it in E-6 it produces color positive transparencies and when you develop it in D-76, produces black and white.

No, I want a film that will produce a color transparencie, color negative, black and white negative and black and white transparence, all at the same time without a lot of messey chemicals, and then can be pull and tugged to any size from 35mm to 8X10. I guess we already have it, it s called digital.

Your guess is more than far from reality. digital is not film. And it does not produce black and white. What is called "black and white" in the digital world is, most of the times, a "uncoloured" picture. An Italian proverb says: "Chi troppo abbraccia nulla stringe" and it can be translated into "Those who want too many things do not get anything..."

A new film? Heck, I would be eternally grateful to see no further shrinkage in EK's current offerings!

LOL i guess this thread is
the converse of what is the next film to go poll

I'd expect Kodak and Ilford to replace their current dual ranges of traditional and T-grain type films with just one range using the best of both technologies.

In a few years, when The Impossible Project produces high quality instant film eroding the much coveted first position in the industry held by Fujifilm, Kodak will launch their line of instant photography material. I imagine the titles on the newspapers: "Kodak enters the instant film arena - Another threat for the already declining digital camera market?".

(don't wake me up).

Verichrome pan in 122.

Oh what about 126 (the early roll film kind not the instant 35mm kind) that would be awesome! Basically LF in MF roll film, awesome! I think it's 4(and change)x6(and change).

Fender is an another US company who cant compete with digital. When you buy a cheap chinese electric guitar and connect to digital processor , it turns to over saturated photoshop picture but all hipsters like it especially that death metal people.

When Fender sees the light , they offered a computer based software processor which plays all the Fender Legendary Amp sounds one by one.

If Kodak lives another 5 years , I would expect from them a software which simulates all their portfolio with noise, color and what the hell details. May be they can sell a license to Photoshop to put it in their software.

I tried many of these simulators and they were faraway successful than my scans.

Pretty sure Dan Bayer and I talked about this in 2010, why they haven't come out with an in camera profile for all film to mimic its characteristics, probably has to do with company competition, but with the popularity of things like instagram, being able to switch from the Kodachrome profile to the pan F plus profile would surely benefit even traditional film guys, it would make their transition a little smoother (that is if it were even possible, it's really hard to mimic Kodachrome or Technical Pan when it comes to grain/pixel but in the near future perhaps we'll see that, I know it can be done in Photoshop to a degree, but I feel like its somehow a little more authentic coming out of the camera. Like when I shoot B&W in digital I set the camera to Monochrome, just feels like cheating if I are it B&W after I get home... Lol

Anyway I may not own a digital camera anymore, so far the hurricane sandy disaster has left my 5D "dead in the water" literally...

Ohhh, Ohhh, I have one of those fender modelling amp's....should I ban myself from Apug :whistling:

In relation to Kodak and digital emulation, I am not suprised it hasn't happened as a licenced product already.

Yes you should. I use a Line 6 modelling amp for gigs - and I build audio equipment using valves (tubes). I should ban myself!
