Kodak TriX 400 in 120 discontinued?

Kodak TriX in 120 discontinued?

Today I went to order more TriX film for my fast dwindling stocks of Agfa and TriX and was greeted with the info from the store that TriX 400 in 120 has been discontinued and is no longer available within Australia.

Right now I'm hoping that someone can prove me wrong.

I'd really appreciate any factual information on this.

Please avoid any assumptions, accusations or flaming.

Hi Nick,

Let`s hope isn`t true for the sake of those Tri-X users out there, but I haven`t eard nothing about it, in Finland is still available for purchase.
I called my dealer and he was surprised with my question!
Maybe your usual dealer woke up in a bad mood? :smile:

there are two versions of tri x, one at 400, one at 320

I bought some last week in Sydney. Maybe the store drew the conclusion that as Kodak has stopped manufacturing film in Australia (I recall the Melbourne plant closed late 2004) that it is "no longer available" in Australia? If you would like me to ship some across let me know. Happy to help out, although buying online and paying international shipping might just work out cheaper anyway!!

They just wanted you to buy that new D200!!
 
Thanks everyone. I can't find a supplier in Perth that even wants to deal with Kodak! Thanks for the offer Tony. Shipping is US $210. Yikes! It's exy but you're right, still cheaper than trying to get it locally now, and I get a bigger choice. It's like being in a huge lolly shop!!! :D

How many rolls are you looking to buy? I will be heading to my local shop today and can check pricing for you, I am sure I could send it to you for less than $210 so if you want me to, I can have them get a price and I will check the shipping.

I know they do pretty good, I just picked up an order of 400 rolls of another film from them the other day, if you can't find what you need and need some help, feel free to let me know.

Looks like you might need to find a good online buddy outside of the AUS to send you some rolls on occasion.

But point is, its not "discontinued" just not being imported into AUS anymore, just like I learned that several makes of Fuji's black and white film wasnt gona be available any more, tho the magic word was 'in japan'

As far as the 320 vs 400.

ISO 320 is Tri-X Professional
ISO 400 is your standard Tri-X

Honestly I think you could develop both the same, and that not much difference other than one being rated slower.
 
My co-worker says it may be a sign to comes, that Kodak may be yet again shooting themselves in the foot, perhaps this time aiming a bit higher to shoot themselves into the balls.

Kodak has recently consolidated Catalog Numbers. One catalog number, for each product, worldwide.

Also, single rolls of TX 400 120 HAVE been discontinued.

The NEW catalog number for TX120 pro packs ( 5 rolls ) is #818-8914

TX and TXP are completely different.

Where is this info posted? I called Kodak Canada and they have no info on their system stating TX 400 120 is going.

im glad its still around, i shoot tons of this stuff. id always just bought the single rolls because thats what the shop had but buying 5 roll packs isnt a problem as long as they don't raise the prices...

You belived that, I would ignor what you hear in stores, I remember people telling me that somone in Jessops said "oh they'll be stopping making film in a few months"! LOL
 
I just log on to Free Style and they are still listing Kodak TX400 at a price of $2.99 per roll don't know about shipping.
