I've just read in the 31st of March issue of the U.K magazine Amateur Photographer that Kodak are going to put the price of their films up by 15%.

I have to disagree here. I don't think we should just blindly "suck it up" from Kodak. I love Kodak film but there are other companies that seem to produce film at a still reasonable price even with the reduction in volume. I don’t want to pay more for Kodak film just to subsidize Kodak’s mismanagement. I think they need to “suck it up” and get efficient. If they choose to stick with film they need to trim the fat and make themselves competitive in that market. If they’ve done that and the product is good I will pay for it, even if it’s a bit more. But there is a cut-off where people will just go elsewhere, myself included.

Kodak seem to me to be intent on committing suicide.

I don't get to say anything about this, as I've been already taken to task on certain opinions. So I can't mention what tax-addicted crackheads run things up in New York. I still say if Kodak were elsewhere, a lot of their problems and prices wouldn't be this way. But that's they way they want things up there, so what am I to do? I have no doubt they're getting bled to death. Poor Kodak. I hate it for them.

Odd....makes no sense that film would be roughly 10x more expensive on amazon.ca vs amazon.com...have any of you checked the big Canadian photography on-line stores? I checked b+h and the price is about the same as amazon.com < $5/roll

What big Canadian photography on-line store? As far as I know none exist.
It's hard to beat B+H

Been checking different ones and another product: http://www.amazon.ca/Tmz-3200-Tmax-...?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1360293509&sr=1-13

Do I over sleep last night and wake up 20 years later? I have been going through the list of films that are being offered and I get crazy $$$$ prices. http://www.amazon.ca/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_0_9?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=35mm+film&sprefix=35mm+film%2Celectronics%2C342

I see the prices are lower for Ilford film but $40 fo a roll of HP-5. But I am entitled for FREE SHIPPING ;o) I am just amazed by this. WTF.. ?

I'm not sure we have to suck it up. I don't remember Ilford increasing their prices recently. I can buy it much cheaper here in France than Tri-X, and any difference between the quality of that and HP5 is merely a matter of opinion. They're both extremely good films, and one is less money than the other, and will soon be a LOT less. I shot Tri-X for over thirty years, but I'm not going to pay extra for the privilege, when there are excellent alternatives.

I just received a shock about the increase of the price of Kodak film. And quite a shock at that. One roll :http://www.amazon.ca/Kodak-Professio...1&sr=8-1-fkmr1

The three pricing examples above, were all being shipped by the same 'expensive' company.
Just because you are on Amazon, you need to check and see which company is actually filling the order.
Ships from and sold by standbyon.

For the folks in the 'Great White North,' here's just one example of reasonable film pricing.

When I was a young lad of eighteen I worked at a camera store. The boss called the regional Kodak rep to complain about some Kodak dealings. The rep just scoffed and said, "If you don't like it go buy your Kodak film somewhere else".

This may be an old thread but it's still fun to complain about it.:D
