I bulk load TMax 400. It's a great film.

I developed a test roll tonight of a new to me 135mm Nikkor f/3.5 non-AI (a very underestimated lens that routinely sells for ~$40 USD) and was surprised to find a piece of white tape on the non-emulsion side of the film as I hung the film to dry. It measured about 10 x 40mm. It was a waterproof tape and peeled off the film without leaving any adhesive.

I am going to have to examine and maybe clean my F2 pressure plate.

I don't have or use any tape like that. Nobody else uses my Patterson developing tank.

In 50 years of developing Kodak B&W film I have never had this happen.

I wonder if I win a Kodak prize?

John

Ha! I should dig that piece of tape out of the trash and frame it.

Sounds like the tape used to seal the cans that Kodak bulk films come in.

Could a piece of it have found its way into your bulk loader?

I'm very careful with the small details. I actually brush and air can clean my Lloyds between rolls. This piece of tape was on the middle of the film area embedded towards the end of the roll in the inner/center windings.

Things like that do happen. I remember getting a pound bottle of reagent grade chemical from the stock room. The bottle had an intact seal. When opened there was a large dead moth inside.

I have been trying to get through to Kodak tech support for four days now and I keep getting the "please call back" recording. I left them a message on the screening page of their web site (they only give you a number to call if you give your name, contact info and reason for contacting them) but have not heard back. I wonder what Ilford's tech support response is like?

I contacted Kodak by email a couple of months ago and received a reply the next day. Perhaps that would be more effective. There's an email address in the thread about backing paper numbers and TMY.

Edit - I think this is the address: profilm@kodakalaris.com

Make sure you are trying to reach Kodak Alaris, not Eastman Kodak.

The profilm@kodakalaris.com email address is correct.
