Can anyone tell me about this film? I just impulse purchased 6 x 60ft boxes of 70mm to cut down to 120 size, but I don't know much about it. It's old - exp 1964 - but it will either work or not. I think I saw something that said original ASA rating was 640 (if so, it'll probably be around 64 now). But any info you can give, I would be grateful for.

According to my '64 Kodak Master Darkroom guide, it's 650 ASA, "Moderately Coarse" grain, "Moderately Low" resolving power and Medium acutance. They show it as available in sheet and 3 1/2 inch rolls.

The D-76 1:1 developing time they give is 19 minutes @ 68 degrees, 14 minutes for D-76 straight.
That seems pretty long, but the same calculator shows 7 minutes for Tri-X in D-76 straight, so I guess it really does need a lot of development. (That's for average contrast).

If it was known for moderately course grain 51 years ago, you should be in for some interesting results. You probably won't want to try developing it in Rodinal :[

Interesting. It is probably way slower than 650 ASA now, if useable. I will do some tests. Moderately course grain on a medium format negative could look good.

RS was short for "Red Sensitive", it had extended red sensitivity. Makes freckles lighter in portrait work. Long roll of 70mm would be for a "school portrait camera".

It will have some base fog, that's for sure.

It would be easier to use as reloads for 116 size backing paper and spools.
