Amazing news.

I have been using Provia 100f the past couple of years, nice to have an alternative but as I never used Ektachrome 100 VS or G or anything in the past I don't know how this will compare.

Seems to be E100 not E100G or E100VS.

I wonder if its an update of the formula with any improvements.

It doesn't say "April" it says "the fourth quarter of 2017" not the fourth month, that's between the first of October and the thirty first of December 2017.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. and LAS VEGAS, NV January 5, 2017 – Kodak Alaris announced at CES 2017 that it would be reintroducing the iconic KODAK PROFESSIONAL EKTACHROME Color Reversal Film for professional and enthusiast photography. The new EKTACHROME film will support 135-36x camera formats and be available in fourth quarter 2017.

I say, "bring it on"! I love slides projected on a big screen. So much better than anything with a digital projector or TV screen. Id they're going to bring back Super-8, I'd like to have Double-8 too. I miss using my Bolex H8. Probably won't happen.

As I understand it other than Super 8, Kodak not Kodak Alaris will distribute that since cine film wasn't included in the Alaris deal. If Kodak produces 16mm film then either someone like John Schwind will special order large quantities of Regular 8mm from them or companies like Wittner Cinetec will re-perforate the 16mm film into Regular 8mm. I believe when they make Super 8 film they perforate 16mm film then slit it down to load into the carts. Either way I think someone will find a way to make Regular 8mm available.

I just shot my last cart of Super 8 E100D last year and my stock of Regular 8mm is starting to run low so I'm very excited about this.

I think this is shedding light on how people here use and read the forums. Those unfamiliar with the New Posts and Today's Posts links probably browse threads by subforum, in which case the multiple threads is understandable. It would be nice if the Forums main page had a header section or sidebar of "hot" thread topics.

Processing and mounting would be the same for any E6 film.

In Australia Provia 100F in 120 format is $17, then add say $8.60 for processing; mounting is not done as there is no demand for that. There isn't much 135 format of this film (RDPIII) being sold. It is expected the price of all Fuji E6 products will be rising again in Q2 of 2017.

Kodak's planned reintroduction of E100 does not take into account the waning global demand for E6 products, other than corporate spin typed through rose-coloured glasses. You can either listen to the manufacturers or dealers who process the films about the parlous state of E6. Demand has fallen very steeply since 2002. To reverse this would require millions and millions of rolls to be sold, and that just is not happening.

The token effort of introducing 35mm Ektachrome is being viewed in professional circles as "too little, too late". Formats of 120 and LF have to be catered for too.

I'd say that by now demand has waned and I would think E100G would have no place to go but up. Certainly not to the glory days but that's no reason to pee on it!

The second paragraph, "certainly not the glory days", is exactly the problem. The seismic shift away from film began at the start of the 2000s and continues to this day. How to reverse that? It's a question asked a thousand, thousand times.

The future of E6 depends on using the product — all products across all manufacturers (Fujifilm, Rollei...others) now, not in several months + time supposedly when a new kid on the block will make is debut. That people should habitually shy away from one or two manufacturers that we have now because "I don't like their stuff" doesn't make any sense. Learn to use and love what E6 we have, and use plenty of it. Simples.

Hopefully they become available in 120 format. Back in the day Kodak E6 films were more expensive than Fuji and it's expensive already.
