Methinks this is an offshoot of Eastman Kodak seeing a market for cine film:

I think you are correct. Kodak (not Kodak Alaris) sees a market for positive cine film, especially given the new Super8 camera they announced last year. Kodak Alaris is along for the ride.

WOW talk about a bombshell, this is amazing news!! E100G was my all-time favorite color film. I literally haven't bought a single roll of Kodak film since its discontinuation (I prefer Ilford for B&W and don't shoot C-41 at all). So count me in as at least one new/returning customer thanks to this reintroduction!

My only gripe is no 120 format, guess it's time for me to dust off my Minolta SRT gear...

Good news, of course. Depends on pricing, though.......Fuji E6 has already got very expensive for the cost of the film plus the cost of good quality processing and mounting. I have two or three years frozen stock of "old" Ektachrome, plus Fuji and Agfaphoto Precisa, so my jury remains out for now, at least until Ferrania complete their work.

Excellent news!

I gotta ask though, wonder what Ferrania will think?

Jim B.
They may be overjoyed.
This could have an excellent effect on the amount of interest in slide and positive movie film, as well as the demand for (and therefore availability of ) processing.
Ferrania will continue to have real geographic advantages in Europe, and may have pricing advantages elsewhere.

Talk about a GREAT way to start the year (and hopefully finish the year as well!)

If this comes to pass, I sort of makes me wonder if Ferrania may alter their scope a bit and trend more towards the C-41 market.

This is the motivating factor - Eastman Kodak sees a market for positive (rather than negative) cine film - both Super 8 and 135.
Kodak Alaris is willing/happy to market the still version as well, so they (and us Ektachrome shooters) get to go along for the ride.
I don't know that this is likely to lead to medium format or large format versions.

This is just awesome news and I don't even shoot E6! Now that I think of it, I'll give this new film a try if I can, only to contribute a tiny bit of support.

Now, the funny thing is, do they produce E6 chemicals any more?

Oh man, great news! I have been shooting E-6 lately, since I found a nice lab and can get my film the same day.

THANKS Kodak!

great news! seems they are willing to bring things back, so maybe this could be the first of a few more films to make a comeback!

I mean "they" as in Kodak, or Kodak Alaris. IIRC their E6 chemicals were discontinued few years ago, but I might be wrong.
They were still being sold in 2013, but I don't think they have been produced since then - I think the Unique Photo listings are for old stock.
Neither Kodak Alaris nor Eastman Kodak list products on their websites.
FWIW, the Eastman Kodak press release announcing the re-introduction of the cine and still stocks mentions labs that still process E6, but makes no mention of E6 chemistry.

Any guesses on price?

A bit above 10€ in Europe. Slightly less in the US. I'm guessing just a little bit bellow the price for Provia 100f, in order to make it competitive.

Indeed it seems like old stock, just like the 1lb jar of Kodak Elon!
Besides, I could only find some E6 first developer, nothing more.

If it were to be re-introduced, the E6 chemistry would probably be produced for Kodak Alaris/Eastman Kodak by Tetenal anyways.

haw haw.

now, I might start a book on them reintroducing K*d*c*r*m* ...

or would I be better starting one on how quickly there'll be a thread on APUG demanding they reintroduce *o*a*h*o*e seeing as how "easy" it is for them to have restarted Ektachrome ... ?
