Hello everybody,

Maybe somone know if I could use a Kodak portrait lens 305mm with #5 shutter fixed on a canham board ? I owned a canham 4x7 and the board mesure 110mm ? MAybe the lens is too big?

I suppose that natively the hole of the canham board is too small, so where to get a board that fit ?

Sorry for my poor english.

I've got a Kodak Portrait 305mm mounted on a standard Canham lens board. Had it mounted by S.K. Grimes.

S.K. Grimes mounted my Kodak 305mm Portrait on an Arca 141mm lens board, and they’ve mounted even larger lenses on these small 141mm boards by using a secondary board mounted to the smaller board. So I believe S.K. Grimes (or another skilled machinist) could mount the Kodak 305mm lens to a 110mm board.

djdister-
which size Canham? The 4x5/5x7 takes a 110x110mm lensboard, aka a Toyo lensboard, and the 8x10 and ULF cameras (11x14-20x24) use a Sinar 140mmx140mm lensboard. Older ULF cameras took a Toyo 158mm x 158mm lens board, like my Canham 14x17.

Its mounted on the 110x110mm lensboard, which I can use on my Canham Traditional 4x5/5x7 or Canham MQC 5x7.

I'm impressed. I have a Commercial Ektar 12" in an Ilex #4 which just barely fits on the Technica board I used to use on my Canham (When I bought mine it was set up to use Linhof Technica boards, but I recently had the front lens panel replaced to take Canham boards). I didn't think the flange for an Ilex #5 would fit on a Canham board.

I'll try to post a pic of it tonight.

So here you are - the Kodak Portrait 305mm mounted on a standard Canham lens board. Front view - the lens board is just barely visible behind the #5 shutter. Rear view, you can see how the lens element dwarfs the lensboard. Mounted on the Canham 4x5/5x7 camera - it just fits! S.K. Grimes added a spacer on the front side of the lens board which pushes the shutter out just enough from the lensboard so that nothing interferes with the front standard.
