I've been shooting film for 30 years, have rarely shot above 160 ASA, and never above 400 ASA. I have been invited to a recording session for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week and will be shooting it with a Hasselblad. Maximum aperture on lenses is f/4.0, will try for 5.6-8.0. I plan to mix ambient stage lighting (banks of 500W PAR 64's) with strobes on 160 & 400.
In the unlikely event that strobes will be forbidden, not to mention the "Ka-fwap" of the camera, I will need the extra speed of 800 ASA. I assume the standard color correction gels will apply (Tungsten & Fluorescent, etc) but beyond that I am clueless.
I bought 2 pro-packs each of the Kodak and Fuji 800 and wonder how far I can push this stuff before hitting the "garbage" threshold (very high contrast & mosaic like grain)? Is one better than the other for push processing? Does one have a higher threshold than the other.
I'm pretty set in my ways and hope that I can avoid using the 800 for the whole session, but would enjoy trying something new (where it doesn't count).
