Amusing holiday story.

20% off everything in Kodak's online store today, so I attempted to buy 40 rolls of TX 400 in 120, was around $3.30 a roll with free shipping. Pretty good deal, beats B&H.

However, Kodak was unable to take the order as "the warehouse only has 2 rolls of Tri-X 120 in stock."

That's a lump of coal in my stocking. Thanks Santa.

Maybe they should contact the manufacturer regarding the need for increased production??

Ken

So, I assume that shop isn't run by Kodak themselves but is kind of sub-shop at another company, at another premises.

store.kodak.com does seem to have a wildly different IP address then www.kodak.com. Not sure if that proves anything but it makes the case it could be run by a third-party.

It definitely is. Digital River specializes in creating these sorts of e-commerce sites for corporate clients. If you go to their web site, it promotes the fact that Kodak is a client. They probably fulfill the orders from a distributor's warehouse. If that distributor happens to be out of stock on an item, then you gotta wait.

"That's so Kodak."

I feel your pain, but I still like to hear the term "out of stock" over "discontinued"

I'm not starting rumours here but sadly one often leads to another...

Perhaps it more often leads to an increase in production.

Why that's impossible...everyone knows the private sector can do everything better. [/sarcasm]

Well, if it makes you feel better, I just ordered the "last" box of TXP-320 4x5, according to their inventory. Though with tax and shipping, the sale price was not much better than buying locally.

Huh? Neither Kodak nor Digital River are in the public sector. Are you saying the government should allocate film?

I just checked sheet film and "20% off" is the going rate everywhere else for Trix 4x5.. Marketing scams....

You should have ordered early, I got 10 rolls of 120 Tri-X about a month ago, also 10 rolls of 35mm Tri-X and some 120 Tmax 100 oh and the receipt I received with my shipment had no prices on it. It's a bummer that they are running out because I am running out as well.
