This is a fairly clean Kodak Medalist I camera. I have converted to use 120 film without re-spooling or such. In the process of converting it, I basically strip the camera down to its chassis, so it makes sense that I would go ahead and clean and lube and adjust it. So...
Focus is smooth. Rangefinder is clean and accurate and adjusted. Lens is clean. Shutter is strong and accurate at all speeds except as usual, 1/400 is more like 1/300. Shutter release is smooth, and the sync between shutter release and wind system release is good. Wind system is good, counter working, etc.
It's a 75 year old camera so it isn't new-born fresh. You see the cosmetics in the images. There is a small corner out of the leather to the shutter at the front top of the lens from it being peeled back during the conversion and service. Other than that, just good condition all around- not mint, not quite excellent, but good.
The conversion involves taking the film chamber walls, removing a 'panel' in the center, and installing a new wall set back from the original wall location. This wall is made from sheet brass, screwed and epoxied in place. The wind spool is modified- shortened slightly for the extra height of the 120 spool and a new key tab epoxied and pinned in place. There are a series of other mods done- tabs adjusted, rollers moved or replaced with blocks of UHMPE. A UHMPE tape is applied to the new walls where the spools roll for lubrication.
It works! No more re-spooling to 620 spools. Not that re-spoooling is so terrible, of course, but it is nice to just grab and go, change my mind on what I want to shoot, etc.
Guaranteed to work! Any problems and I'll fix it. Happy to answer any questions.
$425 OBO. Shipping depends on location, probably $20 or less- send me a zip code.
