I've just acquired a 100' roll of this stock. My Google searches have not yielded much information. Any idea on what the original speed of this film was?

ASA 40 (10 for tungsten lighting) according to my 1964 Darkroom Dataguide. Also, according to the chart, it is blue sensitive.
You can handle it under a 1A or an OA safelight for up to 2 minutes.

I'll roll some cartridges this weekend. Considering this stock is 60 yrs old, I'll probably start experimenting with an ISO of 0.6-1.25, and see where that leads me.

I had a couple of similarly-aged sealed 100' rolls of Background-X, and when I opened them it turned out they had slagged down into a gooey, vinegary mess. Wishing you better luck with your old film!

(I've also more recently used some even older 4x5 film that actually held up remarkably well!)

I shot a couple of rolls last wknd... waiting for negs to come back from lab. Will post results. Also had great results recently with some 1951-expired 4x5 stock.

I'd be interested in your results too. I've shot 120 Verichrome Pan from the late 1960's that was just wonderful. I have some 4x5 Tri-X and Royal Pan from the late 1950's and early 1960's that works, but is heavily fogged. I also had some 4x5 Dupont film from the early 1950's that was just awful. Good luck!
