Ok no more computer geek talk I'm on the analog site because I type with two fingers.

Seriously what a great story. This is so positive. Every film and chemical company should be thrilled that this is getting such good press.
I'm going to be buying Ektachrome and shooting slides again for my snapshots, and family photos. I will develop and mount, (the good ones ) and put them in carousel trays. I have a little Nikon scanner if I need a print or want to email.

My serious work will continue to be on negative films. Both color and black and white. Primarily medium and large format. Optically printed in my darkroom.
Digital is so ephemeral. Film is a slice of time, warts and all. Truly the original RAW file.

You were looking at VGA monitors, not the computers. Did you notice a large flat screen in the background in one scene? The monitors are replaced as they fail but the computers are quite capable. I assure you.

Nothing wrong with CRT monitors, One fellow I know who is an information technology guru told me that in his demanding environment he gets twice the life out of a CRT than out of a flat screen. he is disappointed that they are not available for sale new. I still use MY CRT.

You can buy a good used CRT for next to nothing. Almost like buying film cameras.

A little OT here, but you'd be surprised at the number of computers that are basically PCs on steroids that happen to be mounted in racks instead of sitting on desktops. At my work we just recently purchased a new server for our development environments (yes, plural). It's got 2 processors in it with I believe 8 cores each, and a ton of disk space and memory. It's set up to run VMWare and will be supporting several of our virtual machines that we use for development. Admittedly, most of those virtual machines will be running Windows, but they're perfectly capable of running Unix or Linux as well (in fact, at least one of them will be running Linux). This one physical server is enough to replace two of the servers previously housed in the rack.

Now, back on topic. I shot Ektachrome back in the pre-digital days, and it was definitely nice film. When I came back to film from the digital side of things, I went with Fuji because the price was cheaper. I will likely buy some Ektachrome as well once it comes out again, and will probably shoot a mix of both Kodak and Fuji. Sigh, I guess I better snag another 35mm camera - one for Fujichrome, one for Ektachrome, and the TLR will do B&W and color negative (I love not having to commit to 36-38 shots before changing film!)

Best monitor i've owned was a pro-quality CRT. Wonderful colors, sharp yet smooth.
