Does anyone know when Kodak D-76 was first introduced?
Some of the information I have searched says 1926 and other sources say 1927.
So when is the actual centenary of D-76?

D76 and Rodinal have one thing in common, both were made by other manufacturers.

In modern terminology we'd call D76 "Open Source". In the late 1920s the Cine industry needed a standard, replenishable, developer, so Kodak made the formula public. It was manufacture by many other companies around the world, Ilford ID-11, Defender 6, Foma FV3, Forte FD20, Foton N12, May & Baker 320, also Agfa 19 but this had a little Bromide in the developer as a starter.

Rodinal clones were made by ilford - Certinal (1907-1960s), Johnsons -Azol, even Kodak Ltd Kondinol, never sold or made in the US.

Kodinol came from G.E.K. Mees work in 1909 when he was at Wratten & Wainwright. Somewhere I have a paper he wrote at the time.

Thanks Ian.
I noticed on your website that the formula for Agfa 19R replenisher is less concentrated than the D-76R/ID11R replenisher.
