For some reason I can't find the focal length of this lens. I think the 8" is 203mm so what would the 8 1/2" be? How would you compare it to a Fujinon-W 210mm?

8½" is 216mm. The Commercial Ektar is a Tessar type design it has plenty of coverage for a 5x4 camera and enough on a 7x5. I'm using a 210mm f6.3 Osaka Commercial (made by Congo) which is based on the Commercial Ektar.

You have to decide whether you want a modern Tessar or a Plasmat the earlier Fujinon W 210mm cover 10x8 and have a 352mm image circle,

Ian

I have recently bought a bunch of lenses and trying to decide which to keep and which to sell. I have a Crown Graphic with top rangefinder that came with a Xenar 135mm. Then I bought a Nikkor-W 135mm and a Fujinon-W 210mm for $250. I was hoping I could use the Nikkor with my existing focus cam but I can't and I wanted a longer lens anyway so the 210 was perfect. Then Friday I spotted a Kodak Master View with a Kodak Ektar wide field 135mm, a Ektar 152mm and a Commercial Ektar 8 1/2" for $200 but actually paid $175 because the shutter on 2 of them had a problem but one is definitely fixed and the other one still has a problem but can work around it. I don't really have plans for the Master View and will sell it for whatever someone wants to pay for it.I also have a Kodak 2D 5x7 with a Paragon Anastigmat 7 1/2" lens I bought about 3-5 years ago but never really used it because of lack of a darkroom or daylight tank to develop the film. But then I found a way to develop the 5x7 by putting a tray inside a light tent and using the Df96 all in one developer, so now I will begin to use that a little more. I did put the Anistigmat on my Crown and did a test with the Fujinon 210 and the Fujinon was a little sharper but the Anistigmat was excellent. I really only bought the latest Kodak camera and lenses is to possibly sell the Ektar 135 wide field for much more than I paid for the whole kit and that would leave me the 152mm and the 8 1/2". I think I will buy a cam and graflex lens board for the 152mm and use it on my Crown.
