Kodak Ball Bearing Shutter Cable Release Sizes.

Hello. This is my first post on here. I have a 1920s Kodak No. 1 Autographic Junior with a B&L Rectilinear and a Kodak Ball Bearing shutter with the 25, B, T, and 50 speeds that I am trying to find a cable release for. I am concerned on what to get since there are different numbers on Kodak cable releases. I have a 3A that came with a broken cable and the thread is much larger than the hole on my No. 1 shutter. Anyone know about these old cable releases or know where to find the information? I have never seen them listed in the old Kodak catalogs.

It may take the old straight thread cable release with a 5-44 thread instead of the larger now popular tapered thread with 50 threads per inch.

Ok I wasn't really in my darkroom all this time, but here are some photos of the shutter release that came with a couple of No. 1 Autographics that I own.

Looks like a couple different styles. One has an "8" and the other has a "13"

FWIW, I have two BB shutters lying around, a tiny one with a small RR and a larger one with a 170/6.3 Kodak Anastigmat. The tiny one doesn't function, the larger one does. The two have cable release sockets that are, to the naked eye, different sizes but both accept a cable release with a standard modern tapered tip. The release won't, however, fire the larger shutter.

I have tested 4 cables. I had an old Prontor cable, another and a Promaster one made in the 80s. The 3 had the same conical threading. I stumbled upon some in a recent purchase, I originally bought the Prontor for $8 and then found an estate sale with the 3 ft nylon coated Promaster for $1 and just bought a view camera that came with 2 one 6 inch and one 12 inch. Go figure... I would acquire 3 just after I bought the first one... However, I one of the new ones had the straight threads like to talked about. It fits perfectly.

Summation: The conical standard style works, but doesn't thread all the way. The straight thread is a perfect match. I guess they were made for the older style. Thanks everyone.
