I also don't text, and if anyone tries to text me, I either don't respond or respond by phone or person, stressing I don't text.
For those who think they can choose when and where to use this tool, just choose not to use your smarty phone for a week. Do let us know how it went.
Anyway I was disappointed that it was the old farts who tended to think my Polaroids were quaint but outdated
How could Kodak Alaris possibly distribute and sell anything without incurring costs in the process of doing so? Has anyone who complains about the price of Kodak film increasing lately not considered that there's now another middleman which didn't previously exist between Eastman Kodak and retailers?...As long as the film is going to still be produced by Eastman, and it doesn't cost KA anything to distribute and sell it...
I got a rather peculiar PM from someone saying he uses hi tech all day and isn't a Luddite but doesn't have a smart phone.
If you think owning one means you must be tethered to it, the problem isn't with the technology...
I can "choose when and were to use this tool" in the sense that I can use it now or wait an hour or whatever. I would never voluntarily go a week without it. I start to feel antsy if I haven't checked my email in several hours at most. And you know what? I'm perfectly content with this.
Well that does describe me, but for the public record that PM wasn't mine. I'm not against anyone else owning one. Just against me owning one. It's just a personal lifestyle choice I made. And probably a fair amount of high-tech fatigue after too many years sitting in front of a damned keyboard.

... certainties:
1- KA will do what is in the best financial interest of KA.

but do use Tri-X and will continue to do so unless it goes up to silly prices like TMY-2 sheet film has.
Kodak would benefit from a "Think Different" style of campaign like Apple's.
Take for instance take "Here's to the crazy ones":

Replace the historical figures with great/recognizable photographers of the past (like Cartier Bresson, Koudelka, Manos, Adams, Weston, Webb etc.) that naturally shot film.
Make the connotation that film is for the artists, those with a vision, that are not afraid to go for it.
Those that many people call crazy for sticking with film nowadays, but they keep at it and succeed.
It's cheesy and pretentious, but would probably appeal to younger audiences and maybe could boost sales enough to make some difference.
I get Tri-X from my vendor at $85 per 50 sheet box and it's $99 for TMY-2. I may be wrong but I think TMY-2 was around $87 per box last year (?) I can't remember.....
Current B&H prices for the largest size boxes of 4x5 available:
TMY-2 : $99.94/50 sheets = $1.9988/sheet
HP-5+ : $124.90/100 sheets = $1.2499/sheet
At those prices it's time to switch to Ilford.
TXP is a bit cheaper at $84.95/50 sheets but that's still $1.699 each.
.... which is part of why I prefer film photography to digital. OTOH the phone is something I use for what it does not for what it is.
... And probably a fair amount of high-tech fatigue after too many years sitting in front of a damned keyboard.
Let's hope I am wrong but I don't think I am.

There's market segment here for KA.
They need to want market share...
