In VERY nice user condition (with marks due the years of use) and working perfectly well. Aero ektars are really difficult to find nowadays, this is a great opportunity for acquiring a rare lens in great condition mounted in a fully checked operational body.

It is included:

- Speed graphic pacemaker body with the focal plane shutter (needed for using this lens).

- Jo Lommen Aero Ektar lensboard.

- The Aero ektar 178mm f/2.5 lens.

- Five 4X5 film holders (Fidelity Elite).

- Two 6x9 film backs (One is a Horseman 120 holder, and the other a 23 Graflex 120 holder).

The camera is completely overhauled and cla'ed by the well known Jo Lommen (Graflex - Aero Ektar expert) just before last summer. Works like a charm, all speeds are accurate, but of course as far as you can expect from a very old camera, this is not a 2016 dslr. There are marks in the inner frame of the front part of the camera, because the lens is too big, this is something totally common.

There are marks over the barrel surface and of course in the front and back element (there is no Aero Ektar lens in the whole universe that it is spotless). But I have been using this lens for almost a year and the results are incredibly nice! You can take a look in my flickr:

About the glass condition, there are some cleaning marks in the front element (really difficult to see), and a very faint scuff in the back element. I have to insist that these kind of marks have no noticeable effect in photography, well, science says that everything in the light's way is going to cause some kind of loss of contrast, but of course you would need way more deep scratches or big marks to experience it. So, if some of this marks could cause some lack of quality in the final photographic results they would be absolutely not noticeable to human being eyes.

I can also see that the front lens coating it is not in mint condition, there is a small area where coating is not perfectly uniform. Also a very small bubble in the center of the front element (no effect on photos), and dust (the dust can be removed, it is in the space between front and back elements).

THIS LENS IS MEANT TO BE USED WIDE OPEN MOSTLY, SO EVERYTHING I DESCRIBED PREVIOUSLY IT IS ALMOST OR TOTALLY INVISIBLE IN THE FINAL PHOTOGRAPHIC RESULTS

I am asking for the whole bundle 1900$.

To conclude: What you have here is a 70 years old piece of equipment, in 100% working condition, that used with care could last at least another 70 more, these things though delicate are sturdy, that is the reason why they are still working nowadays. If you want a camera to take stunning photos, this is a great chance for you, but if you are looking for a collector item, maybe this is not.

Feel free to ask, shipping costs, paypal... Questions are welcome!

Ps: Please don't be confused by some of the reflections over the lens glass photos, you can see my fingers reflected on the lens holding my cellphone. The coloured dots reflected on the back element are from my led panels, or even you can see the window. These photos are taken with a cellphone in a no professional home studio.

Is the rangefinder cammed for that lens?
No, the tech guy who overhauled the camera told me that coupling the rangefinder with the lens it is a simple thing to do, but not very trusty at the end, he doesn't recommended it because the dof is too crazy and it is way more reliable to focus with the ground glass.

camming a speed graphic top RF to an aero ektar is far from a simple task. Done right though it can be at least as, if not more accurate than GG focusing, esp. handheld. (at least with the Kalart). GLWS.

Yeah! Well, at least that it was what the tech guy told me, maybe it was easy for him? heck idk! Focusing handheld with a 4x5 camera with an aero ektar in it??? Man, that's pretty impressive! You would need Arnold Schwarzenegger's arms to do that! The camera with the lens weights 3 kg! (aprox).

Thanks, yes, I will love to find a new home for this expresso dof machine, 4x5 film it is bankrupting me!

Hello mate, I know it's little late to post on this thread, but I've couple questions and need your expertise if you don't mind. I bought, in a rush (didn't receive it yet), a Speed graphic few days back without paying enough attention to close details (obviously) to realize after it was an older model that doesn't tilt (I can post the link to the ebay auction that shows couple photos of the model/version of the SG). I wonder if we can swap the font standard/mechanism with another that has the tilt feature (like the one on my crown graphic)?

Second, I'm in a hunt for a nice clean Aero Ektar for my new SG if you can help with some suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!

I think front standards can be swapped among some of the crown/speed graphics, and super graphics. I am not sure of the details though.

Generally tilt on a pacemaker crown or speed is going to be backwards tilt, to allow for achieving parallel front/rear standards when dropping the bed for wide-angle lens usage. But, lack of tilt isn't really a limiting factor at least IMNSHO when using a crown/speed handheld with an AE.

As for finding an AE : ebay is probably where most of them end up. A good price is anything in the $300-500 range I'd say.

Thanks for letting me know! The quest continues....I might have a deal to pick up a lens...

Good luck! It is a dream of a setup, you are going to love it. I regret not have it with me now, but at that moment the finances were not as good as it should, and the 4x5 film is quite expensive.

About this thread, As far as I can see there is no other way of marking it as "SOLD" more than subscribing to apug (and paying 2$) again. Would it be possible to mark it as sold by any admin here? Thanks in advance!
