Kodak 50mm Ektar adaptor ring

I just got a very nice Kodak 50mm Enlarging Ektar. I thought I had the correct adaptor ring to make it fit the standard LTM 39mm hole but it turns out the step down seems even more. It seems more like a 24mm to 39mm step down. I looked around and could not find such a ring anywhere. I want to try this on my Focomat 1c. Does anyone have any suggestion? Thank you all! Robbie

You could try Glennview to see if he may have one, though he is pricey.

A competent machinist could make you one in a few minutes.

I have always wanted to try one of those for fun, but I knew getting an adapter would be a pain so I haven't done it.

Once upon a time there was a 25mm->39mm ring for the old Schneider Componon, Companar lenses.I'm assuming
your lens has a 25mm mount.

My guess is that the 50mm Enlarging Ektar has a non-metric thread.
The Photo Cornucopis site says: 15/16" or 23.5
The 23.5 most likely refers to mm

Thank you! Yes, I have the old adaptor from an old Componar. I thought that one was going to work, but this thing is tiny. The 23.5 number seems right. I will continue my search!

I want to thank all who responded. I found a solution. I was able to 'sacrifice' the adaptor I had from the Componar. It was made of a hard plastic material. Since I will never be using the Componar I was able to file away enough of the inside of the ring that I was able to catch the threads with the Ektar retaining ring. So I got it all fitted into the Focomat. It looks very good through the loupe, but I will know better how it does when I make prints in the next few days. The only downside is ergonomics. The lens is so small it is difficult to get my fingers in there to change the aperture. The lens will never replace my Focotars but it is interesting to play around. Thanks again! Robbie

Glad you found an easy solution Robbie.

You can wrap a rubber band around the lens to keep it from falling out in case you bump it. I've done that before.

Thank you Patrick, Actually the Ektar came with it's own retaining ring, so I got the threads of the lens to meet with that and the lens is socked into the adaptor good and strong. It actually appears to be professionally done (!).Through my Peak loupe it appears much as my Focotar 1 does, but not the Focotar 2! It looks very crispy in the center wide open. I saw a test in one of the early photo magazines that the Ektar is very much like the Focotar 1 at f8-11. I won't be able to print today as I have to go out of town, but I will tomorrow and will report back.
