I just finished doing a little informal test of Kodak's new 100GX (warm) slide film. I havew to say, I am very happy with it. It is just slightly warmer than normal. I shot a roll of it at the park with my little girl. It was an overcast, slightly drizzly day. The colors are a tad punchy, and the skin tones are perfect. I could have gotten away with using a warming filter (812) on top of it without turning everything orange. (like with the old 100SW) Overall, an excellent film from Kodak. Thumbs up! I tried to scan a couple of slides on my crappy flatbed scanner and decided not to post them since they don't look anything like the original chromes.

I just got a pro-pack of the new 100G and will be shooting it at Ironwood tomorrow. It should be fun to see how it compares to the "old" stuff.

I haven't tested the 100G yet, or the Portra UC. I love getting samples from Kodak

Let me know what you think of the 100G.

I was fortunate enough to get the last 4x5 sample box from the local lab. I'll be in the Moab area for a week and plan on loading some holders with 100G, Provia, 100VS and Velvia, and shooting the same scenes with all 4. Of course, when the Velvia 100 starts shipping, I guess I'll have to go back and do it all again.!

I FINALLY got some 100G done and FINALLY got to really look at it.

Very nice. Amazingly it does skin tones well. It isn't Portra which seems capable at times of dermatological feats, but it isn't Velvia and does seem to do a bit better than the "old" E100. Overall very nice stuff. Especially if you want just a good slide film to drop in the bag. The colors are punchy but ACCURATE. As odd as that sounds....

And the grain is painfully fine. I mean it will make you winch when you see how far off your scanner is.
