That product, borrowing the name from the earlier colour process, was formally announced (! it's not the day it went on sale first) on April 15, 1935. First available were 16 mm and (a bit later) 8 mm.
For stills photography it became available in september 1936, in both 35 mm and Bantam-format cartridges.
