this might be the only film magazine in the US. It doesn't look PhotoKlassic is going to make their kickstarter drive.

How can I buy a fake 72mm Nikon lens cap from China for 99 cents, and a 72mm rubber hood for 2 bucks and get free shipping in a large padded envelope? If I wanted to send the same package to a house 5 blocks away it would cost 8.95??? Is the US post office subsidizing the Chinese online merchants by delivering this? Must be some brilliant international treaty that we will deliver your mail if you deliver ours. I think this was the basis for the original PONZI scheme.
I look forward to seeing one of these magazines, I sure hope Kodak can get kids interested in shooting film , anything to keep the coating lines running smooth.

Got mine a couple of days ago and I like it. I also sent a few copies to peeps overseas who asked me to do that for them. Which is why it may have sold out so quickly...
Is it worth $20? well seeing that in the US the avg price for a crappy greeting/birthday card is about $4, absolutely.

I don't get that either? I order four rolls of film and shipping is at least 7 bucks. I get it...I live in BFE Louisiana but come on man. I hate using Amazon Prime for film et al but at least it takes two days and the shipping is free.

Well we finished already Issue #1 plus #2.
The Kickstarter is not our only way. So don't think we give up we made on Kickstarter a very good offer for an independent publication that will be constantly available.

We are now in negotiatins with different distributors world wide and there are still 25 days to go.

Good, I am a backer so that is a relief to hear. Hopefully everything works out.

The Kickstarter is one option for us. The planning for this project started even before Kodak announced the Ektachrome relaunche. On our stand on the photokina 2016 we got really a great feedback from our readers. We noticed that we had a lot of non German speaking among them, from France; Belgium the Netherlands and believe it or not China and Japan and we got lots of requests from photographers to start an English version. So we started to think about it. Main Point was that a 1:1 translation of the German version would not adress the international market. The reading habits and also the requirements are so different when you go international, just starting with the cover!

Next the price without reducing the print quality and garantee propper shipping.

The Kickstarter is for us a possibility to speed up the process.

By the way the amount of subscribers we are focsing on in the Kickstarter is not very high for considering a worldwide aproach. Its even less than in Germany and we have only 80 Mio people.

I think its a great opertunity and we invite the community to be part of the project. Thats what we did 2012 in Germany. I made an announcement here concerning this point....... (there was a url link here which no longer exists)

Al lot of skills are about to get lost. I am sure there are some brilliant landscape photographers in the US who are a great benefit for the entire community. Or a wedding photographer in India who can tell us his story and the way he sees the world, or the professional portrait photographer wherever in the world.

We are not a magazine that only lists up prices about gear and rankings about lens resolution. We do these things, we test film and gear but again the PhotoKlassik concept is "BY photographers FOR photographers".

Kodak has contracted out fulfillment of the orders. So you are paying for the postage costs but also the time and materials for the third party company to ship it plus make a profit. Not at all unusual in this day and age.

Just received my first copy today. Haven't had time to read it yet, but, looking through it - wow! I believe it's worth the $20, considering the cost of other things these days. I'll certainly order issue 2 from what I have seen.

Did you receive it?

Yes. It arrived. It is a very nice magazine and I enjoyed reading it. I did not get the sense from reading the content that there was any intent to continue it on a regular basis.

If it comes out as a limited edition again at the same price or higher I won't be buying it.

If they decide to actually do a regular magazine with a decent subscription rate I may consider it.

I pay $35 per year for Lenswork's Monographs which come out 3 times per year. That is a very nice and extremely well done magazine, so Kodak will need to make theirs worth it as well.
