Kodachrome machine

Hi all--
There have been a few different threads about Kodachrome, including Kodachrome 120. Well, in the process of moving the lab I work for, I came across something that I thought others might find interesting--I know I did. Anyway, it's an old advertising photo from when we had a K-14 machine. You can see the 35mm (on the bottom) and the 120 (the top) ran side by side. I hope this photo is of some interest to Kodachrome fans out there. There is a whole binder full of 35mm slides of the machine being built/installed, but it's in a box somewhere right now. Once we find it I will post some of the pics is anyone is interested.

Note the IR unit he is wearing. I used to have one like that but white with a Kodak logo on the hard hat.

The hardhats for IR we use now are the same type, but with football logos...I'm jealous of the Kodak one!

I have the same IR viewer 'helmet', but the IR image of mine is rather unsharp. I do not manage to focus the viewer, not with the front - nor with the rear optical element by turning it. Only the tiny centre of the image is somewhat sharp, so it is fairly hard to work with this IR viewer, particularly to attach the E-6 test strip. Is there anything that can be done about this? Or, what am I doing wrong?

The depth of field is almost nothing. The guys that have been doing this for 20+ years can work with them fine. I don't get to load film, so my experience is mostly fumbling around trying to look at notch codes and stuff like that!

The image in my unit was quite sharp, but the illuminator unit came with a pistol grip and was not part of the viewer in one of the units. In another unit it was.

My video camera has an IR mode that is quite sharp. I have posted some of the stills taken with it here on APUG.
