Hey guys, wanted to know if the Kiev Spot/TTL metered prism will be easily compatible with my 500C/M which has an acute-matte screen. I know this meter isn't up to par with the Hasselblad prisms, but it's also a lot cheaper. Since I can get this for $80, do you think it will work decently enough with my setup, and is it worth it? Thanks!

I have the averaging meter-prism and it works perfectly on my 500C. I cannot see why the spot prism would not work equally well.

Thanks - is the acute-matte a problem though? Maybe I'm just paranoid but I'm wondering if a brighter screen would throw things off.

I do not know; but, it would seem to me, any variance could be tweaked easily with an exposure test.

The brighter screen will obviosuly give other results than the less brighter screen, yes.
But that is easily dealt with by setting a one stop ISO rating compensation (lower, when you are using the Acute Matte while the meter works fine with the old screens).

I have the Kiev TTL Spot prism and I use it with my 500c/m with brightscreen. The prism can be easily callibrated for any screen by the user - it has a grubscrew in the adjustment knob which loosens the knob. You use this to adjust to your camera. Instructions are somewhere on the web on how to do this - it is quite simple.

A note about the Kiev spotmeter prism - I have found mine to be an excellent replacement for the Hasselblad metering prism - exposure readings are consistent and quite good.

Mine is about right with the very dim original 500 C/M screen. Plus I Get that one of a kind Russian camera smell !
