For a shoulder bag, backpack or sling, which color is best for being unobtrusive?

gray...:D

Probably about Zone VI kind of gray...that's what I got. Too dark can heat up more in the sun.

I vote for khaki. More quickly begins to get dirty and well-used looking, and therefore less resembles something that might contain a few thousand dollars' worth of expensive gear.

Plus, at least in theory, khaki reflects light and heat better than darker colors which absorb it, so may stay cooler in the heat.

It doesn't matter. Pic the color you like best. Thieves are thieves regardless of anything else.

Depends on your clothes, doesn't it? I wear black, so it's black for me, molds into the silhouette. On the other hand, if you're in battle gear, I'd be khaki or sand.

I'm leaning toward Khaki but if I were into battle gear I'd go with Camouflage. I associate dark Green with Jungle fighting too. Now it's Desert Sand battle gear. It's hard to get gear in colors other than the standard market driven colors. No one listened to Fred Picker or Ansel Adams I guess. White turns to mud anyway, that's not a nice look but practical.

White, indeed!.

Gets dirty quickest.
Reflects light best, thus best at keeping things cool.
And who has ever seen a white camera bag? So no thief will suspect it is one.

And noone will associate it with fighting or combat gear.
