I recently made a few prints on Kentona with Neutol WA. What I have is some ok prints with a very olive black before attempting toning.
Does this paper have some special or redeeming feature I should be looking for?

According to Tim Rudman it's very good for lith printing, although it's formulation has changed recently. I've just brought some for lith work but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Yes - it responds beautifully to different developers, as you've discovered. And to toners as well.
