I won some of the new KENTMERE 120 films so I tried the 400 in my Rolleiflex T with 16-on kit in my 'Favourite Alleyway' with shadows I processed it in Home-Made Pyrocat HD for 17 mins @20oC

Looks great!
It's probably as good a film as the more expensive stuff, they just can't promote it as such.

There are some minor points in which Kentmere is inferior to FP4+ or HP5+ -- antihalation, for one (more noticeable in 35 mm than in 120 due to backing paper) -- but if you compare it to comparably priced films, you're judging against Fomapan and Shanghai GP3, and Kentmere stands up very well. I've got a bulk roll of the 100, but haven't gotten any processed yet. Looking forward to seeing the negatives and scans...

Compared to Fomapan 400, it's just a superior product in nearly every sense, IMO.

I've got a lot more experience with Fomapan (and .EDU Ultra) than with Kentmere or anything it's (been) rebranded into. Fomapan 100 is better than the 400, barely slower true speed despite two stops difference on the box -- I look forward to trying the Kentmere 400 and comparing to other lower cost tier "fast" films. What I've seen online suggests you're likely correct, but I've got a lot of Fomapan to use up.

Yes, I agree. I quite like 100 for alt. process negatives. It builds contrast easily. It does have a bit of a pronounced shoulder, though.
Fomapan 400 I've used for a while, but it didn't work for me, to be honest. Just too far off of box speed, for starters.
