This might be for answering which filter to use for black & white photography.

Filters can get as complex as one wants to make it. This video is an introduction to filters which did not cover filter colors and clouds for example. It also talked about using the built in TTL system to compensate for each filter, so it did not cover filter factors and f/stops versus shutter speeds.

I like that guy actually, he has some cool videos in his channel that I've seen before.

I just didn't understand the point of that video really, as there are tons of introductional videos to color-filters for b&w.

As a basic intro, and a plug for keh, sure, it works, bit honestly didn't give me much personally. ^^

Juggle? What is your point?

My point was that the information given was very very basic (and can easily be found there already, by the dozen).
So it didn't bring any new or in-depth information, other than that you can obtain certain effect with filters and that KEH sells them (all of them apparently).

Hey, guys... This video is clearly not aimed at us. I mean, we, as enthusiasts or pros, should know that by now.

But I can understand it's value for the stereotypical San Franciscan hipster that wants to take his/her B&W photography to the next level.

And, for sure, it's a plug for KEH. In my opinion, that's marketing done right.

Cheers,
Flavio

You seem to want the moon on a stick. KEH just wanted a short promo vid to turn Matt's subscribers and casual youtubers onto their store.

At least KEH is making an effort to educate neophytes to use of filters. Most other store do not put out much free education.

Hold everything!
Someone posts a video that they thought might be interesting or helpful and then gets slammed by 15 posts criticizing every aspect of it??

What are the odds?

I wonder about the native language of those making the blog and video. Is it supposed to be English?

There is no clear, simple explanation given about the working of coloured filters with panchromatic film, nor any clear explanation of what a 'filter-factor' is and why one might want to use it in preference to TTL metering.

The result of the video is that I now plan to cover light filtering in my own instructional-video shooting list . . . which, at my current rate of progress, will be ready to enlighten the masses some time around 2025.

Summary: good that the blog-writer and video maker are avoiding starvation through (presumably?) being sponsored by a retailer. Not so good that a simple subject is being made vague-and-imprecise.
