As I have said to Sean and I am sure everyone has heard here, a million times over, Thank the Silver Gods for this site...

From the Missouri side of KC... I was exposed to traditional methods in High School (12 years ago). After years of disinterest, I decided I needed a creative outlet. I took a community college class about 3 years ago. Enjoyed the new facilities and the instructor...

3 years later, 5 classes later (for the facilities) I'm still at it strong. I shoot the occasional wedding and do some creative portraiture for friends and friends of friends. I am finding that there is a nice market for what we do. Id like to do this full time but I'm not going to go digital to do it.... It all takes place for me in the darkroom... I even met my girlfriend in a darkroom. We went out for month before we saw each other in the sunlight...

I like creative, candid, portraits... The weddings are lame but I still manage to produce work, from them, that I am proud of.. There is nothing I am not interested in shooting...

Gear?: Well, Lots of 35mm.. 2 Canon AE1's (one program) with various lenses. Mostly portrait length lenses. Sometimes I break out the 50mm 1.4.... Also enjoy my Nikon N80 with a couple of the inexpensive G lenses.. Hey! Its all Nikor glass, right? My new toy is a Mamiya C330, Twin lens, Medium Format.... I love the big square neg.... In the process of building my own darkroom. Probably spring.. Beseler 23CII, timer, easels and tons of chemicals just waiting to be cracked open.....

I need tons of gear still..... I have no disposable income anymore..... I want to show some work this year.... The more I learn, the more I realize I need to learn more...

Good Morning, Bighead,

Welcome from Illinois, just across the river from St. Louis. Glad you found the last photo site you'll ever need.

Konical

I worked for Sprint in Overland Park for a bit and loved KCMO. Actually pondered moving there. Nice museums. Great shopping. Hot women....

One more thing...

While I was there about 4 years ago...I found it very strange that the downtown area went totally dead on Fridays at 5pm. Made for some great photos.

Welcome to the site from just up the road in Omaha.

Welcome from southwest Missouri (Springfield).

Hey there! I'm from KC myself. If you're up North of the River, check out Ben's Camera in Riverside. Yeah, it looks like a total hole, but the guy has one of everything ever made and knows more about more than you'd ever figure.

Lawrence Photo, in Springfield saved my a** once... My partner (at the time) hosed her shutter leaf in her Nikon, the night before a wedding we were shooting. On a Sunday morning, they fixed it... Great shop too....

That place rocks.. Whenever I am looking for something for one of my old cameras, I try there first... I've gotten a few things for my AE-1's there.

He sold me my very first SLR. A Praktica LTL that I still shoot to this very day. He's wacky, but cool. And besides, you can always go to Corner Cafe for a big plate of chicken livers and peanut butter pie afterwards.

Man, some days I miss KC. =)

Ahoy matie... from Lincoln. (Now that's really stupid, coming from someone land-locked in the center of the country)

This was great timing, I am heading to KC in a couple of weeks and had started to look for a camera shop. I will definately check out Ben's.
