The annual KIA Art Fair opened today and runs over the weekend. You can also stop at the KIA and request showings of their collections with a little advance notice.
On June 14th from 2-4pm, Craig Sheaks from the Midwest Large Format Asylum is having an opening of his large-format photography work at the Carnegie Center For The Arts in Three Rivers which is about 30 minutes south of Kalamazoo. In Kzoo, there are local Art Hops organized by the
Kalamazoo Arts Council the first Friday of most months and several photographers usually exhibit throughout the month at various places. Small local downtown venues to check for monthly exhibits include the Water Street Coffee Joint, Crow's Nest/4th Coast Cafe, and the Studio Grill.
Looks like there is a wetplate artist exhibiting at the Public Library according to
this month's Art Hop brochure. You might also contact Mary Whalen at the KIA. She runs the
Photo Department at the KIA School, is a fellow wetplater, and just had an event with collodionista Robert Shimmin somewhere in the area.
