Were there diopters for the K1000? I see no mention in the cameras manual. Were diopters cross compatible between body serie's such as the KX, KA, M. I need a +2 and don't see anything mentioned about specific diopters for the body.

I am not aware of one but you never know.I will be hitting my local camera shop tomorrow and will ask the manager. A man of the "old school" who happens to collect Pentax cameras.

I have never seen a diopter option for the K1000, they were made a little before the time when eye correction was recognized as a problem for photographers, I am sure if you found some for the other series of Pentax cameras they woud fit, and it would be a trial and error to find the ones that match up with the eyepiece in your camera and gives you the view you require.

Weird; They produced the camera for 21 years from 1976 to 1997. What's not to know about a diopter? I do know of a right angle finder, but see no diopter.

I thought they are compatible ...

Is the K-1000 viewfinder different than the KX? I thought the frame and all that stuff would be compatible throughout the K series. For instane, I have a Refconverter for my KX, and I would be really surprised if it did not also fit a K-1000.

I do not think you can fit a correction lens directly to the camera, but an easy option is to obtain a push-on rubber eyecup which will accept such a lens.

The K1000 shared the popular K mount but little else with other Pentax bodies. You are more likely to find diopter atatchments for an ME Super or an LX. Sort of like a power winder or battery pack. There were none for the K1000. On the other hand, the K1000 was probably one of the toughest bodies I ever owned! I actually left my old K1000 on the hood of my car one day and drove off. After hearing the dreadful loud crash, I stopped and checked it. No damage even after bouncing several times on asphalt. I regret having given it away several years ago...
