You mean the sheer number of manufacturers making K-mount cameras?

That and the time periods involved.
I had been away from photography for awhile and a lot of this is brand new to me.

As is obvious, there are a lot more "brands" on that linked list than manufacturers. For manufacturers there were Pentax, Chinon, Cosina, Zenit, Cimko (On the list)

Yes Ricoh made their own, until at least the XR-P.
