I am currently shooting with an old sears KS-2. I have had it for years and have got plenty of nice shots out of it. It came with a 52 mm lense but I am looking for a portrait lense for it. Any recommendations?

If you can afford it (some US$ 300 used...), the Pentax 85/1.8 is very higly regarded.
Another good chioce would be the Pentax 105/2.8.

Thanks Jorge, but these all seem to be screw mount, do they come in a k mount or do I need an adapter?

Walter
These lenses were made in K mount.
Take a look at 'the bible':

Sometimes they show up on Ebay, and due to been so rare, prices went way above reasonable.

Wow, nice site. I"m not interested in getting into the Pentax brand but I LOVE to read about other camera makes/models. Need to bookmark that one. I don't really know too many people that shoot with 35mm Pentaxes. Most people I've worked with do have good experience with the medium format ones though.

According to the site above, the 85mm 1.8 is available roughly once a year!

Actually the Sears KS-2 was made by Ricoh for Sears. I has been a wonderful camera and I have had it for more than twenty years. But I don't think I can afford to spend upwards of 700 dollars for a lense for it. I could by a whole bronica 645 kit for that!

Walter:
Don't worry, many of the pentax lenses are not that pricey some patience & looking around on ebay should find something to fit your pocketbook. The 85 is scarce but the 105 is pretty common & a good choice for portraits

I agree with Shaggy - the 105/2.8 has a much more reasonable price.
I've recently purchased locally a S-M-C 105/2.8 (screw) for about US$ 60. The K shall be some 20% more.

The M100/2.8 is also an excellent choice and can be had on ebay for ~$100.
