A few weeks ago I Wolverhampton Camera Fair and bought a reasonably priced larger TP Roller Blind shutter, this one fit a 3½" lens barrel or integral lens hood.

It fits my 20" Rapid Rectilinear lens perfectly which was a nice surprise.

With a much more common smaller shutter

While the shutter worked at all speeds 1/10 to 1/90 and T it needed repair and restoration. It's a front mounting version but had been used between a lens and lens board and the front has a couple of splits where it was screwed to the lens board.

This is the lens it fits - on the larger 12"x10" camera

Now restored and fully functional.

and just for scale . . .

I've also made a conversion lens board so I can use this lens (and lens board) on my 10x8 Agfa Ansco Commercial View or Universal View cameras.

It would have been really nice to see some pictures of the repair in progress. I'm sure I;m not the only one curious to see what's actually inside those old roller blind shutters!

Ian, an interesting project here. Thanks for sharing the story and the fine photos outlining your work overall......

Actually I have one or two TP and similar shutter, well maybe 60+ :D, over half are restored and most of the other I've restored the casings and they are waiting new curtains, cords, and re-assembly. I've no idea how many are pending restoration a few though . . . . . . . .

This one is my largest so far although I have 3 maybe 4 just a touch smaller, then they descend in size. The larger ones are much rarer and harder to find, many are damaged by incorrect use.

It would have been really nice to see some pictures of the repair in progress. I'm sure I;m not the only one curious to see what's actually inside those old roller blind shutters!

You could try here or better still here. I've built up a collection of spare parts over the years which helps enormously.

I also have quite a few front mounting Luc type shutters including a large Gitzo with flash sync, these are single speed with B & T.
