Hi Thanassis,
I really enjoy using the new camera. Sure it's big, but the image on the ground glass is bright and big. You do have to have long arms to reach the forward knob for focussing. The only problem I have is there is no detent to let you know when the front standard is completely vertical to the camera body.

Hi Nicole,
you may already know, but I sold the 4x5 Shen Hao with 90mm Schneider Angulon, 150mm Fuji, 210mm (?) and 400mm Komura to Mick Fagan in Melbourne. I think he likes it. When I finally make my own 8x10 (hopefully by this time next year) I'll try to sell him my Tachihara, he should be ready for one by then and able to explain it away to his missus.

Hi Greg, I just noticed on ebay that there is an 8x10 Tachihara up for sale. Reserve is $795 American. It looks to be in quite good condition. If you can get it for just a bit over that you're laughing. A really cheap way to get into 8x10. Good luck.

G'day Mick,
I was wondering how long it would take you to move to 8x10, and no I'm not ready to sell just yet. I have to make my own 8x10 before that happens. I 've finally perfected the design, now I have to speak to a few friends who have used carbon fibre before to find out how to make the molds and what sort of chemicals etc I need. One of my friends is chemistry teacher so I'll be picking his brains big time.

Mike, I'm not in a hurry at all. I have used 8x10 before for work but in a studio environment, so I know exactly how nice it can be.

In a year or so I might be tempted, but I'm not sure, we'll see.

Mick.

Man, I do not know a thing about LF cameras, but that Tachihara is a BEAUTIFUL camera. WOW!

Congrats on the purchase!

Greg,
If you're still interested, there's a Horseman 8x10 LX for sale on ebay for 99cents US, plus a couple of wood field cameras for under $100.00 US. Good luck

Don't worry, it went for more than a new one does. I bought a new 8x10 Tachihara from Jim at MPEX in mid March. $1400. I think the one on ebay went for $1600, and I'm pretty sure it was double extension, just like mine.
