Just curious, is anyone using FPP B&W 4X5 infrared film or at least tried it with an R72 filter?

I'm wondering if it's worth trying or not. Rollei Infrared 400 is $79 while FPP 4X5 Infrared is just $49 both for 25 sheets.

It’s probably repackaged Foto 200/Aviphot 200, so the same stuff. Be aware that it is very thin.

Yes, I used my dev dish for 2x 5x7" sheets for recent 4x5 Rollei, and the film contours around the longitudinal ridges of the dish so well that it slightly crazed the emulsion in areas. Need to find a flat-bottom dish.

From developing time and suggested ISO for non-infrared, sounds a lot like Aviphot 200 . FPP say 700-800nm and Aviphot if up to 750nm, but they suggest a 750nm filter I guess it is the same film.

Not a bad film though.

John, it is most likely repacked Aviphot... the exact same stuff as Rollei IR.

I pretty much figured that it was Andy, but the price difference made me scratch my head. I'm going to shell out the $50.00 to find out just how good it is. I'm going to use my SP-445 tank to process it and hope that works with those thin sheets.

I’m about to process a roll of Foto 200, I’ll share my thought

Foto 200 roll is processed, and I have to say, this film is so incredibly thin. 0.06mm is no joke, it was hard to load onto steel reels. But, the images look good so far, although they’re just a tad thin I think. Maybe some extra time in the soup wouldn’t hurt. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like I used an IR filter on any of these, I thought I had but I guess not.

FPP finds cost cutting measures here and there that keep the price down. For example they packaged my Mummy 400 in a 2 part box instead of a lightproof 3 part box which was annoying when I had to convey my exposures to the lab as I had to find an empty 3 part box which was not easy.

Of course now I have a stack of 3 part boxes and it’s no longer an issue but it really sucked at the time.

Two part box isn't much of a problem if you are a home developer, which I am. If I remember correctly I think my box of Shanghai GP3 4X5 came in a two-part box also. Maybe this is the trend of the future? Still, a $30.00 savings per box over Rollei Infrared 400 is a big chuck of change for this Hollander. That is if it's exactly the same as Rollei Infrared 400. FPP just sent me a notice yesterday that my film is on its way so we'll see.

The worst boxes I've seen so far are the ones from CatLabs! Flimsy...but I shouldn't complain if it helps keep the price down.
I've got a ton of Rollei IR in 120 and 4x5. They both appear to share the same film base. I say stock up boys! It won't be around forever... Our only option then will be SFX and HR-50. Sadly, neither come in sheet film sizes.

You are so right Andy, The only two things you can count on anymore is death and taxes. If this FPP Infrared works for me I'm going to pack away 100 sheets. I just hope I can use them up before the Grim Reaper comes calling. Going out tomorrow with my 1898 Cyclone 4X5 box camera loaded with Shanghai GP3 100 (yes, I can confirm it is in a two part box) and will certainly try some FPP Infrared in that camera. Just might be a perfect combination?

Foma also comes in 2 part boxes. In fact most of the budget sheet films do. I thought that was standard until I bought a box of TMAX100. Since they are in a light proof plastic bag I never through twice about it, in fact its a bit easier than figuring how a three part box fits together in the dark.

Is there a specific reason to believe that Rollei IR will be discontinued soon and that I need to start stocking up soon? As much as I would like to stock up on a soon-to-be-discontinued-film, I'm out of freezer space at the moment.

When I went looking for Rollei IR in 4x5 about 6 months ago, it was out of stock everywhere in the UK and Europe, and I had to buy it from B&H in New York.
