I also have a K2 with a faulty shutter - it always fires at the sync speed. I've decided not to have this looked at because I don't like the ISO ring on the lens mount (it's almost impossible to change ISO), and I doubt it's likely it could be fixed.

You might be right about the shutter, but the ISO ring is easy. The manual is misleading and the natural tendency to try to turn the ISO ring by using the fingergrip projections does not work. All you do is to press the detent button at the lower left of the lens mount and then turn the ISO ring closest to the body - the one with the speeds marked on it, not the one with the marker arrow on it that points at the selected ISO. This should move easily with the button depressed. The fingergrips on the ring just forrard of it are only used for changing the exposure factor. It took me a long time to figure this out, and I hope it helps (unless your ISO ring is also broken!)
