Hi... I'm new here and I am so pleased I found Photrio... So far I have found clarification on many things just browsing in the last few days.

I recently bought a Helios 44M 2/58 and adapters to mount it on my Yashica FX3 2000 Super as well as my Canon R6. So far, so good, although I haven't developed the Yashica rolls yet to see the results... the R6... perfect.

I am now looking at getting a Jupiter 9 and I have some doubts re the adapter I will need for the Yashica. I see that the Jupiter has various mounts including Kiev / Contax ... but I am unsure if this is the same Contax mount that the Yashica has.

I am hoping someone can clear up my doubts. If the K/C is not the same as the Yashica then hopefully there are kind souls among you that can enlighten me as to what adapters I would need for the various Jupiter 9 mount systems.

Many thanks in advance.

I had such an adapter Jupiter8 (Kyiv-Contax) / Samsung NX printed on a 3D printer. In theory, you can print any adapter, but a lot depends on which camera

If you get M42 version of Jupiter 9, then the adapter is readily available:

But please keep in mind that Jupiter 9 was made in various mounts. Those that are made for.rangefinder cameras, will not focus to infinity (most of them are made in m39 mount, rather than m42). And there's also a version for Kiev-Automat cameras with different mount. Those can't be adapted to your FX3 without butchering the lens.

Kiev-Contax is yet another rangefinder mount and it woult let you focus to infinity because flange focal distance (distance from lens mout to film plane) is very short compared to what FX3 has.

As for R6, like KitosLAB already said, a lot of things can be done with 3D printer.

P.S. ¡Bienvenido a Photrio!

Gracias por el saludo amigo.. de verdad parece muy útil e interesante.
I gathered that I will have to be careful about which model I finally choose... I was reading last night about bayonet out, bayonet in.... etc... for a newcomer to this line of photography I am a little awed by it all. I am turly impressed with the Helios 44M on the R6 and when I do my first colour develop next week I will see the results from the Yashica.

Kiev/ Contax rangefinder mount is a completely different mount from Yashica / Contax SLR mount, just to be clear, and will not adapt to your SLR. You'll need a lens made for SLRs and the appropriate adapters.

It's not just a matter of physically adapting, but also getting the lens at correct distance from the camera. Read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flange_focal_distance

Thanks for the info and the link. That's exactly what I was doubting and why I asked first before jumping in blindly. I really appreciate you taking time to help clear things up. I actually have M42 adapters for both the Yashica and the Canon and I have located a few good sources for M42 mount Jupiters. Along the way I discovered the Helios 40..... gulp.... but a bit out of my price range unfortunately.
