Networking event with John Stoddart
7 February 2012, 19:00 - 21:00
Open Eye Gallery, 19 Mann Island, Liverpool Waterfront, Liverpool, L3 1BP, United Kingdom
We're delighted to welcome back ex-Liverpool 'photographer to the stars' John Stoddart (above) for the next Redeye and Open Eye Photographers' Network Meeting. John gave one of the most popular and talked-about presentations at the National Photography Symposium in May 2011.
John has been a sought-out photographer for more than twenty-five years. He exhibited at Open Eye in the early 80s before abandoning social documentary photography to set up a studio in London. Since then he's photographed the likes of Iggy Pop, Martin Scorcese, Prince Charles and Liz Hurley, as well as creating risqué portraits that fuse fantasy and fame.
John has published two photography books, Its Nothing Personal and Peep World, both of which explored the elusive world of fame. His work has been exhibited in several galleries and museums, world-wide, including The Vault Gallery in Hollywood and La Galleria Pall Mall in London. He has had numerous solo exhibitions including Punks, Poets and Other Stars (1997), Its Nothing Personal (2004), Peep World (2006), Society (2008), and Dirty Little Pictures (2009). He has worked for nearly every magazine in the UK and internationally, including Vanity Fair and The New York Times.
Arrive from 18:30 for a drink and a mingle. The talk will begin at 19:00.
Tickets:
£3.50 standard ticket
FREE for Redeye members
