Jobo Silverbase First Impressions

I have a 2520 tank as well, but no magnet for it yet. I just ordered some ferrite magnets from a magnet supplier (I never knew this was a speciality) for $12.50 each compared to almost $100 for the genuine JOBO. These are naked and don't have a plastic frame to clip them to the tank bottom, but hot glue will do the trick.

Find an appliance recycling facility. These magnets are the same as what are (were) used in microwave oven magnetron tubes. Amazing how strong these things are, be careful not to pinch yourself.

It turned out that hot glue didn't last more than 2 batches. Thankfully both the tank and magnet are unharmed. I will try epoxy glue next.

You might try a polyurethane based (isocyante containing) adhesive. In the US a concoction called "Gorilla Glue" comes to mind. Plastics can be difficult, Jobo tanks are a nice grade of ABS, so solvent will melt and fuse two pieces of ABS. Hard to beat a good epoxy.
Make sure that the magnet is dead center. Be careful you don't end up having to buy a new tank and a Jobo magnet.

Since the silver base has an option to be delivered with a 1500 tank and a magnet attached to it I wonder it this same magnet can be detached from the 1500 tank and used on another tank, say 2500?

Yes, the Jobo Original magnet can be carefully removed and transferred between different tanks. Everything Jobo seems expensive but it's worth every penny (IMHO FWIW).

I just loaded my 2509n reel, 6 sheets of TXP, 4X5. You want to think long and hard before you consider this approach for 4x5. I have the Jobo loader, I've done it before AND, I had my IR goggles. Going extremely slow, took me 10-12 minutes to load the reel. I have slowed down in my 67 yo geezerness, still for black and white there's still nothing easier, or cheaper than open hard rubber tanks and hangers.
Still I really do like these reels, just have patience and patience well and more patience

Tomorrow I will develop on the littlest Jobo. Silverbase.

I've been interested in trying out the silverbase, and was wondering, would this processor work with the 1526 Tank combination? (i.e 1520 + 1530)
I'd love to be able to do 6x 120/5x 135 in one go on 600ml of chems.

1526 is a combo outfit allows processing 1 8x10 print or 5 135 films. I've never tried that many films. It's a tough little machine.

I read somewhere that the constant rotation tends to cause a dense B/W negative, is this true?
How would people convert the dev time from usual agitation to the constant rotation dev time?

The general consensus seems to be that one should reduce development time by about 15% when using constant agitation.

I have a B's Processor which is similar to the Silverbase unit and I just use the times recommended in the Massive Developer Chart (https://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.php) and got excellent results with no adjustments in time.

Do you also use less liquid as in Jobo?

I used whatever the Jobo tank said. I don't recall at the moment what it was.

I've been using the Jobo Silverbase for 1 or 2 black and white films at a time. I love it. It's kinda insane to spend so much money to just twirl the tank, but I really am enjoying using it.
